Ongoing Tuesday – Saturday / Public firing on Saturday 14 September 11am–2pm, Kontula Public Library, Ostostie 4.

Daily documentation at Museum of Impossible Forms

‘The exploration of sustenance and sustainability is the Third gesture of Hospitality’

In collaboration with Museum of Impossible Forms, artist collective Asematila has invited Bread Omens (initiated by Elina Rantasuoand Jani Purhonen) to take part in the week of Gathering for Rehearsing Hospitalities. Bread Omens is working around bread, fantasies of kinship, and playing with the idea of the nearly vanishing culture of communal bread ovens–while expanding their artistic practice through collecting bread starters, stories and engaging in encounters.

During the week they will construct a temporary oven at Kontula Mall, in front of the Kontula Public Library. Daily documentation of this process will be situated in Museum of Impossible Forms. The oven site will function as a meeting spot, where bread-related memories can be explored. On Saturday, the artists will light the fire in the oven and baking will start.

Gesture III: Bread Omens is a collaboration between Museum of Impossible Forms and Asematila, and is a part of Frame Contemporary Art Finland's public programme Gathering for Rehearsing Hospitalities, taking place in Helsinki, Finland, 9–14 September. It brings together local and international arts audiences for a week of interactions and dialogues.

Museum of Impossible Forms is a cultural space, located in Kontula, Helsinki. It is a contested Space and it represents a contact zone, a space of unlearning, formulating identity constructs, norm-critical consciousness and critical thinking. Impossible Forms are those that erase and facilitate the process of transgressing the boundaries/borders between art, politics, practice, theory, the artist and the spectator. For 2019-2020, Museum of Impossible Forms operates under the curatorial theme of ‘The Atlas of Lost Beliefs (For Insurgents, Citizens and Untitled Bodies)’

Museum of Impossible Forms is a safer space. It follows safer space policies to create a welcoming, inclusive, awesome environment.

Events at the Museum of Impossible Forms are completely free and accessible without prior booking.

Museum of Impossible Forms is accessible by lift with thresholds up to 4cm on the way. The toilet has no thresholds but is not spacious enough to meet accessibility standards. The nearest accessible toilet is located at Kontula metro station.
