The Museum of Impossible Forms M{if} continues the improvisation and experimental music sessions in 2019, where seasoned local and international improvisors meet up on the stage of M{if} in Kontula creating unique performances. The event continues with our regular practice of 'Blind Date Jamming', where members of the audience may ask other audience members and/or the invited guests for the opportunity to "jam" or play a short improvised piece together.
For Improv Session XI, Juan Fran Cabrera and Sirpa Jokinen combine analogue and electronic diciplines for a unique improvisation performance.
Juan Fran Cabrera plays the violin, prepared violin and flute. Furthermore, within his improvisational career, he includes visual, performance and sonic art. Cabrera’s versatility, multidisciplinarity, and interest in different music genres allow him to keep an active and broad artistic career not only within academic scopes but also in more underground arenas.
Sirpa Jokinen creates her own electronic-noise-instruments/generators out of particular recycled objects and materials, such as suitcases and electronic trash. On the other hand, she incorporates in her set up keyboards and prerecorded sources. Currently, Jokinen combines her background in visual arts with sound art and music, within diverse collaborative and pedagogical art projects.

Launch of Impossible Reader, edition 01
Thinking Sound is the first edition of the Impossible Reader– a biennial publication in the form vinyl record. 11 artists respond to the curatorial vision of ‘The Fierce Urgency of Now‘ and perform a series of manifestos onImprovisation, experimentation, Music and Soundas Art.
Improv Sessions is a part of the Museum of Impossible Forms and is both a platform for listening to and performing Experimental Music and Sound Art, curated by Sergio Castrillón.

Museum of Impossible Forms is accessible by lift with thresholds up to 4cm on the way. The toilet has no thresholds but is not spacious enough to meet accessibility standards. The nearest accessible toilet is located at Kontula metro station.
